What do Structured Content and Tennis Have in Common?

Computer Vision is Revolutionizing Malaria Control
Computer Vision (CV) is a type of artificial intelligence that enables computers to derive information from images, videos, and other inputs. DCL employs CV in a number of ways when transforming content into structured XML or enriching metadata. For decades, CV has been employed across industries—autonomous vehicles, medical diagnostics, mobile translation, and more. Bill Gates recently shared how the Gates Foundation is using CV to identify mosquitoes carrying malaria. VectorCam is a groundbreaking app that uses computer vision to identify mosquito species in seconds. This is not only a technical feat but also a lifesaving tool bringing the eradication of a deadly disease closer to reality.

What Publishers Need to Know Now About the European Accessibility Act
The European Accessibility Act (EAA) is about making sure accessible products and services are easier to buy and use across the EU. This is great news for accessibility but it also means there are new rules and deadlines that publishers need to consider. June 2025 is the deadline to ensure frontlist titles are compliant. The EAA should be top of mind for any book publishers (although the EAA is about more than just books) who sell their books in the EU or the UK. While the UK is not in the EU, they have decided to align with the EAA.

Unlocking Aftermarket Revenue Through Improved Technical Documentation
Surprisingly, even some of the largest organisations still rely on outdated technology to create, manage, and maintain their technical documentation for products and assets. We’re talking about large, complex, and antiquated documentation systems that demand constant review and updates to ensure data, drawings, and instructions remain relevant and accurate. Plus, there’s the extensive information that needs to be reviewed, updated, archived, or even deleted. But why do so many companies treat technical documentation as an afterthought?
